What is a dæmon?

What is Dæmon News?
Dæmon News is all things BSD. We strive to be the central resource for all of the BSD projects and products. We are comprised of several components:

A monthly ezine with articles about BSD
A daily news site
A mall selling all kinds of BSD merchandise
A support site to answer questions about BSD.
A full-color print magazine full of BSD articles.
A search site that indexes BSD related web sites.

We are always expanding, and we need your help.

Want to help out?
Free software creates an interesting phenomenon; people want to contribute back to the projects. However, most of us aren't kernel coders and don't want to be that committed. Dæmon News is the perfect place to contribute back to BSD. We offer several levels of involvement and job descriptions that aren't quite so technical.

Article submission policy
We will accept articles in a number of formats (text, HTML, SGML, LaTeX) on most anything to do with any of the various BSD's. Articles can be submitted to the editors.

When you submit an article to Dæmon News, you keep the copyright. However, you do grant Dæmon News some implied rights:

Dæmon News may publish your article online.
Dæmon News may mirror your article in any country.
Dæmon News may translate your article to any language for use online/mirroring.
Dæmon News may republish your article in an electronic format, exactly as it appears on the web site. (eg, sell it on a Dæmon News CD).
Dæmon News may publish your article in the DN print magazine.

Article republication policy
Articles from Dæmon News may be republished using the following guidelines.

Obtain the authors permission and pay them, unless they decline to be paid.
Note somewhere near/in the article that it was originally published in Dæmon News. Use of a Dæmon News logo is encouraged, but not required.
Pay Dæmon News an Editorial/Trademark Royalty. This fee is waived for non-profit/personal use. This fee is very negotiable, please contact us. We are friendly to worthy causes.
